While the entire talk had its pros and cons, the one thing that really grabbed my attention: the definition of digital humanities. At first, I had believed that it was just an English 105i class quest to accurately define what digital humanities is after reading a little about it, and that the reason we struggled with the definition had to do with the fact that we did not know much about the field. However, after hearing Ian Bogost verify the confusion, after hearing an expert in the field tell us how even all the professionals are more confused than ever about the definition made me realize the true potential of this field. After hearing Ian Bogost talk about digital humanities and not be able to give us a solid definition made me realize that that just highlights how this field is growing, evolving, and has limited constraints with what it actually entails.
